Research Interests

I came to Bristol University in January 2006 to start a PhD, having studied a BSc in physics and music and an MSc in electronic engineering at Cardiff University. My work involves the recording and analysis of the electric fields caused by ions in the vicinity of high voltage electric power lines. I am specifically interested in the rapid changes at large distances from the line and their possible health effects.
Currently I am making field trips to various power lines in the Bristol area to record the changes in electric field and am developing software and electronics to record and analyse the fine structure of the field over time. I am also looking to set up a fixed site monitoring station to record the changes in electric field over long periods in time.
I also drink a lot of tea.
